about

'Dreaming,' a seemingly innocuous pop tune, sets us up for a rude awakening. Full of reverberating bells and undulating keys. 'Dreaming' explores the exposure of women forced into bestowing ‘favour’ to those who abusively wield their positions of power.

lyrics

I’ve been dreaming of you
Every single night
Nine to five, nine to five

I’ve been inundated
In a rolling trance
Blending lights
Now’s your chance

No one dare doubt it
Where’s my grip
No one cares about it
Where’s my grip
Come to life

Going on to need it
Going on to find it
Maybe I’m still dreaming
Don’t come running back

I’ve been trying
To make light of it
Foreign signs
You know that

Only human nature
Urges overrun
Falling thin
Moving on

How about a statement
Forget what I’ve done
Falling thin
Must stay numb

No one dare doubt it
Where’s my grip
No one cares about it
Where’s my grip
Come to life

Going on to need it
Going on to find it
Maybe I’m still dreaming
Don’t come running back

I’ve been trying
To make light of it
Foreign signs

I’ve been falling for simple lie
It’s all different now
Don’t come running back

I’ve been dreaming of you
Only deemed it lust
Nine to five, nine to five

No one dare doubt it
Where’s my grip
No one cares about it
Where’s my grip
Come to life
Going on to need it
Going on to find it
Maybe I’m still dreaming
Don’t come running back

I’ve been falling for simple lie
It’s all different now
Don’t come running back

Going on to need it
Going on to find it
Maybe I’m still dreaming
Don’t come running back

I’ve been trying
To make light of it
Foreign signs
You know that
